CPBBA Youth Camp 2023

Last weekend Canterbury Provincial Brass Band Association held its annual youth camp at Living Springs on Banks Peninsula.

As always this was well attended by young brass players from across Canterbury, including Sumner Silver Band’s two youngest players Charles and Ryder who both play cornet in the band.

The weekend provides a great opportunity for players to socialise and have fun with other youngsters who are embarking on their brass band journey, whilst at the same time enjoying a weekend of top class tuition. This year the Musical Director for the camp was Woolston Band’s Bb Bass (Tuba) play Matt Toomata, and the camp itself organised by SSB’s repiano cornet player Peter Thorby.

If you’re a young brass player living in the Sumner/Redcliffs/Heathcote/Bays area and are interested in joining Sumner Silver Band please get in touch by taking the ‘contact us’ link on this website’s home page.
