A Helping Hand

Sumner Silver Band has a very close relationship with Ashburton Silver Band and frequently each band helps the other out when players are unavailable.

To this end a few members of Sumner Band travelled down to Ashburton on August 4th to play with Ashburton in their “Winter Warmup” concert at the Ashburton Events Centre - a superb venue for such a performance.

Winter Warmup also featured soloist Chloe Graham, Dance Worx Ashburton, Ashburton Pipe Band, Ashburton Intermediate Kapa Haka, Allenton School choir and Variety Theatre Ashburton, so it was a very entertaining afternoon.

Members of Sumner Band will be heading to Mid Canterbury again in November to assist in Ashburton Silver Band’s annual performance at “Bands in the Park”.
